Meet our team

Joshua Flannery
Joshua has a 20 year long connection with Kansai and Japan, and a true passion for helping Kobe, Kansai and Japan develop into a world-class ecosystem for startups to be born and to grow globally. He is currently commissioned by the State government of Victoria (Australia) as the Digital Tech Focused Investment Expert - Japan, working to connect startup ecosystems across Australia and Japan and was selected by the Keihanshin Startup Academia Coalition (KSAC) to provide training and advice to this group of prestigious universities (including Kobe University, Osaka University and Kyoto University) on topic including best-practices for student entrepreneur mentorship and support and diversity and inclusion within university startup ecosystems. Joshua also holds the position of Entrepreneur in Residence at Western Sydney University where he provides advice to both entrepreneurs and the university itself regarding startup programs and global expansion.

Hiroyuki Oyama
Hiroyuki has a strong and diverse background, starting out in finance and accounting advising both Japanese and foreign companies on financial issues, and later focusing on working with and for startup companies. Including business development ownership and support for startup and technology projects in collaboration with ASICS, Japan Association for CFOs, KPMG, PwC and many others.He has unique experience to assist startups into the Japanese market, and grow their businesses with a very hands-on approach covering all corporate functions including HR, IT, Legal, etc.Most recently he has been working as a consultant and business owner, working closely with a DX consultancy company in Japan and U.S. based tech companies for supporting their Japan go-to-market strategy and launching new business service lines.

Moe Gotoda
Moe is a talented Kobe native, bilingual having grown up in the US and has a strong background as an office and community manager.She spent several years with a major Japanese airline learning Japanese service level expectations and management best-practices and also has experience as a teacher and mentor for foreigners learning Japanese language. Moe has been working full-time with Innovation Dojo Japan as the Startup Coordinator since August 2021, helping over 200 startups from Kobe, Japan and around the world connect with mentors, programs, events and organisations with a focus on growing and visualizing the startup ecosystem powered by Kobe City.

Yong Zi Jian
Yong is a talented and multilingual scouting and startup analyst in the team. He holds a science degree from the prestigious Osaka University and has now experienced scouting South East Asian startups for Japan based programs across two cohorts. His language skills include fluency in English, Japanese, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese languages.
