Osaka Innovation Hub - Global Workshop in Melbourne
Innovation Dojo Japan took lead in planning and running the "Global Workshop Program," organized by the Osaka Industrial Promotion Foundation (Osaka Innovation Hub), aimed to foster entrepreneurial skills among youth and students interested in entrepreneurship. The program took nine participants to Melbourne, Australia, for a series of workshops, site visits, and networking events focused on design thinking, sustainable business, and SDGs-related ventures.
Objective:The primary goal of the program was to provide participants with hands-on experience in idea generation, exposure to international startup ecosystems, and opportunities for skill enhancement. Through workshops and interactions with overseas startups and entrepreneurs, the initiative aimed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among the participants and equip them with the skills needed to tackle societal challenges through innovative business solutions.
Program Details:
- Orientation: December 23, 2023 (Osaka Innovation Hub)
- Preparatory Learning: February 3, 2024 (Osaka Innovation Hub)
- Overseas Workshop Program: February 19-23, 2024 (Melbourne, Australia)
- Participants: Students from various universities and technical colleges, including Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Osaka University, Doshisha University, Konan University, and Kushiro National College of Technology, along with individual participants
Key Activities:
- Innovation Tours: Visits to co-working spaces, incubators, and innovation hubs in Melbourne.
- Networking Events: Interactions with startups, entrepreneurs, and companies in the local ecosystem.
- Idea Generation Workshops: Collaboration with Melbourne University's accelerator program TRAM and HEX, a youth entrepreneurship development institution.
- Institutional Visits: Meetings with Invest Victoria, a government agency promoting investment in Victoria state, and discussions with Japanese companies.
- Site Exploration: Tours of Aesop's Melbourne headquarters, research labs, and explorations of Melbourne's historical and sustainable sites.
- Group Work and Pitch Preparation: Preparation for final pitches through group work and guidance sessions.
- Final Pitch Presentation: Presentation of business ideas developed during the program.

The program provided participants with valuable insights into global entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. Through hands-on workshops, interactions with international stakeholders, and immersive experiences in Melbourne's startup ecosystem, participants developed critical entrepreneurial skills and gained a broader perspective on addressing societal challenges through innovative ventures.
