Event Report: Kobe-Malmö Innovation Bridge, October 17th, 2023

On October 17th, 2023, IDJ and Kobe city hosted an event where local businesses and startups from Kobe met with a delegation from Malmö City to share information and build connections.

The event began with a warm welcome from Taku Takeda, the Director of the Kobe City New Business Promotion Division, setting the tone for the insightful sessions that followed.  Joshua Flannery, the CEO of Innovation Dojo Japan, then introduced the Kobe Startup Ecosystem.

The event gained deeper international context with Niklas Karvonen from Nordic Innovation House Tokyo highlighting the Nordic and Scandinavian startup ecosystem. Torsten Blad from the city of Malmo, accompanied by Daniel Person, CEO of Minc, and Hanne Klintøe, Senior Advisor at STRING, followed with a presentation covering the rich opportunities and innovative landscape that Malmö has to offer.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from Kobe-based startups keen on exploring opportunities in Malmö, along with the presence of major corporations from Kobe.

Event Report - “Zen & the Art of Japanese Market Entry – IVS Kyoto 2025”

On July 2–4,one of Japan’s largest startup conferences, IVS Kyoto 2025returned to Miyakomesse and ROHM Theatre under the theme “Reshape Japan with Global Minds”.The event brought together over 12,000 attendees and 300 startups, showcasing global innovation and highlighting Japan’s evolving startup landscape.

At the “TEAM EXPO Pavilion” within the Future Life Village at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Peatix hosted a special event titled “Event Salon Kansai in EXPO 2025 – The Future of Co‑creation Emerging from Events & Communities.” At this event, IDJ’s Senior Program Manager, Kanako Murase, participated in a panel discussion, speaking around the theme: “How can overseas startups and Japanese companies truly achieve results through co‑creation?”
