Innovation Dojo partners with GEN Japan on Melbourne Global Entrepreneurship Conference

Innovation Dojo Japan and GEN Japan have announced a new partnership, aimed at selecting up to 20 delegates from Japan to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC), happening in Melbourne, Australia from September 19-22, 2023. The conference theme this year is Transforming our World, and is expected to attract four thousand visitors, including entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurial supporters of all kinds.

Organizations from Australia and around the world. According to GEC, “Early-stage funding has grown in Oceania by 80% in recent years, accompanied by 50% growth in $50 million+ exits. GEC 2023 host city Melbourne is home to more than 2,600 newly founded companies and has a startup sector that rivals its tourism sector in size”.

Innovation Dojo and its Japanese subsidiary company has been actively promoting cross-border innovation and startup activity between Australia and Japan since 2016 including the management of the Global Accelerator Hub program for JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) in Australia, as Joshua Flannery, CEO explained, “holding the GEC 2023 in Melbourne has presented the perfect opportunity for Innovation Dojo to continue deepening its Japan-Australia innovation work, having managed the Australia-Japan Innovation Forum business matching program in Tokyo last year, and prior to that working closely with the Victoria State government Japan officials in connecting Japanese corporations and investors with Victorian partners”.

Flannery and his team in Japan are now seeking government and corporate sponsors to support the Japan delegation to Melbourne in September. “There is an opportunity to sponsor individuals or groups of innovation professionals to fly to Australia for this unique chance to connect with the best of Melbourne’s startup ecosystem”, Flannery said. GEN Japan approached Innovation Dojo Japan to assist with seeking out appropriate representatives from Japans innovation ecosystem, and to share the insights the company has gained from its focus on startups moving between Japan and Australia these last 7 years.
